One of O’s favourite bedtime books for the past 10 months is “GOOD NIGHT VANCOUVER”, by David J ADAMS and Anne Rosen. Date: 2009

Good Night Vancouver
I always find it fun to read this book to him as he gets to know the Vancouver landmarks, he starts to recognize the different places in real life and also in the book. He gets excited when he knows the places and you find that he has a good memory!
His favourite pages are:
- English Bay (page 1&2) – he points at the seaplane, the seals bobbing in the water, the sailboats and the seastar
- Lions Gate Bridge (Page 3)- he points at the helments the biker and rollerblader is wearing and of the Bridge. (notice that the cyclists are going the opposite direction that they should be)
- Water Taxi (page 6) – O laughs at the bobbing seals in the water and points at the Canadian flag
- Lynn Canyon (Page 9) – laughs at the Beaver shirt
- Totem Poles (Page 13) – laughs of the racoons and spread his arms out like an eagle on totem pole
- Lighthouse (Page 18) – aways refers to grandma and grandpa as we visited the lighthouse with them
- City Hall (end of book) – points to Canadian flag and says City hall
The Good Night Vancouver book is part of the Good Night our World series. It was also great to know that David Adams is from Vancouver and first time author who developed this book as part of a UBC’s Children’s Book Workshop. He was encouraged by the instructor to submit his concept to the publishers!
In addition to the great illustrations, its a short book as well, which make bedtime faster, unless they say “AGAIN!”
