First Blog: Thinking of our Next Vacation.
Over $4000 just for airfare? Wow! We looked into flights from Vancouver to London, then from Rome, Italy back to Vancouver. For the four of us (two adults, three year old and 6 month old), the cost would be over $4000. That also doesn’t include accommodations, flight from London to Florence, other travel, transfers etc. I think a budget of $8,000 – $10,000 would be conservative figure.
Can we really afford to spend $10,000 on a two week vacation??? I think not!
Now we are looking at other options – its sort of back to square one. Looking for perhaps for a North America option. Here are some options:
- Ottawa/Montreal/Boston
- Columbus/Virginia
- San Deigo, Los Angeles
- San Francisco/Napa Valley
Any other suggestions of places to go?
I’m from the UK, and got to travel to Las Vegas and across to Los Angeles and San Francisco a few years back. We loved San Francisco, so much to see there considering it isn’t one of the bigger cities. I hear San Diego is very nice, but we didn’t get to go there.
I’d love to go to New England sometime too.
If you do come to the UK, bring plenty of money for accommodation, which isn’t cheap, especially in places like London.
Thanks for visiting Joyce!
Yes, we love San Francisco, its has good food and a nice place to visit. I haven’t been to San Diego for about 15 years, but the last time I went, I loved it. I remember saying that it was like Vancouver, but sunny everyday!
New England is a place where we haven’t been, so thats why we are thinking of heading out there.
We are lucky that we have some family that we can stay with in London. Its also great there that most of the museums are free.
We made a trip out to Northern Spain a couple years ago when our son was 10 months old. We stayed in London for a week, then Bilbao, San Sebastian and Bayonne for about 5 days! The pintxos were wonderful!
Sleepymom and I still haven’t decided where to go. We are rethinking London now, but also thinking of California – Who knows where we will go!
Spoilt for choice! I d love to go visit Australia one day, but it’s a long flight, not cheap either. Knowing someone who already lives there is ideal if they can give you some accommodation.
We actually lived in London for a couple years prior to having our children. We loved it! We’ve seen most of the touristy sights there, so a visit back to London is to meet up with friends and hang out in places where we used to frequent.
Funny you mentioned Australia! We lived in Melbourne too! Lots of great thing to see in Oz!
